FAQ Prom

Q: When should I start shopping for my prom dress?

A: Prom dresses begin arriving in our shop in January & are all in by the end of February. We suggest purchasing a dress in mid-February, as you will have the first pick & be able to order a dress if needed.

Q: What is required to place an order?

A: We require half down to place any dress order. The other half is due as soon as the dress arrives.

Q: What if I love a dress, but it’s slightly too big?

A: Most dresses are able to be altered, so if you are in love with a dress check with our staff to find out if this is a possibility!

Q: Am I always able to order a different color and size?

A: Each designer is different when it comes to ordering dresses for Prom. However, beginning in March it’s very difficult to find dresses in stock in every size and color; that is why we recommend shopping early to ensure you get exactly what you want.

Q: Since you take my measurements, does this mean that the dress will come in to fit me perfectly?

A: Unfortunately, no. The measurements that are taken are done, so that we have a basis to compare the size chart measurements to. Almost always, bridal, bridesmaids, and mothers dresses will need some sort of alteration. We try our best to find a size that will lead to the fewest number of alterations for you, but it’s always good to prepare for them.

Q: If I buy a dress from you, will you sell the same one to my school?

A: No, Christy’s keeps track of the dresses we sell and to what school we sell them to.

Q: What is your return policy?

A: We consider all orders & purchases in store special orders and therefore, all sales are final.

Q: Do you have a seamstress on staff at Christy’s?

A: We do not have any seamstresses that work for our shop, however we do have two women in the Burlington area that we regularly use and recommend our customers to. Their work is completely independent of our shop; however we do allow them to use our fitting rooms for their appointments. Once your dress has arrived, we will provide you with their contact information if needed.

Q: Do you have all of the dresses shown on the websites of the vendors you carry?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to carry every dress from every designer. We do try to follow our vendor’s advice and pick up the most popular and best selling styles. However, we are able to order any dress even if we don’t have it in our shop; but once you place an order for a dress, the dress is yours. In other words, we cannot order a dress for you to see and then return it.

Q: Do I receive a discount if I buy a dress off the rack?

A: When it comes to prom, it seems like this question comes up quite often. Yes, these dresses get tried on throughout the months leading up to prom, but that doesn’t mean that a discount will be offered just for that reason. We keep all of our dresses in dress bags to help keep them better protected. If there is ever a major flaw or defect that we cannot fix, we may offer a discount.

Q: Can I put a dress on hold?

A: We allow for one dress to be put on hold up to 24 hours during the week. No dresses will be put on hold Friday- Sunday or for more than 24 hours. The dress will be put back on the floor after the 24 hour period, unless a down payment has been made.
