FAQ

Q: When should I start to shop for my wedding gown?

A: We recommend a bride order her dress about 8 months before the wedding. This allows adequate time for the dress to come in and alterations to be done. Many brides don't know that most wedding gowns take 3- 6 months to arrive in our shop. However, we do have many gowns available in the shop for sale to those brides who don’t have time to order.

Q: Should I make an appointment?

A: Appointments are required for Friday-Sunday. Even though we do not require appointments during the week, it’s highly recommended that you do schedule them, so that we can provide you with the attention and customer service that you deserve.

Q: Why is my dress a size or two larger than what I normally wear?

A: Both bridal and bridesmaids gowns tend to run smaller & therefore you may take anywhere from one to three sizes larger than the size you would normally buy.

Q: Since you take my measurements, does this mean that the dress will come in to fit me perfectly?

A: Unfortunately, no. The measurements that are taken are done so that we have a basis to compare the size chart measurements to. Almost always bridal, bridesmaids, and mothers dresses will need some sort of alteration. We always try our best to find a size that will lead to fewer alterations for you, but it’s good to prepare for them.

Q: How long is the order time for bridesmaid dresses/Mothers/Flower girl/Tuxedo?

A: It takes about 12 weeks, or 3 months, for a bridesmaid dress, Mother-of-the-day dress, and Flower girl dress to arrive in our shop. Tuxedo orders are placed 1-2 months before the wedding and arrive the Thursday the week of the wedding.

Q: What happens if I have out of town bridesmaids or groomsmen?

A: This happens quite often, and there is no need to stress out about your out of town-ers! Simply have them go to a bridal salon/menswear shop and have their measurements taken. They then can call with their measurements and we will take care of everything over the phone (sizing & payments).

Q: What is your store return policy?

A: All orders and purchases are considered special orders and therefore, all sales are final.

Q: What is required to place an order?

A: We require half down to place any dress order. The other half is due as soon as the dress arrives. We will not place bridesmaid dress orders until the entire party has put their half down & sizes have been discusses and chosen (unless otherwise authorized by the bride).

Q: Do you have a seamstress on staff at Christy’s?

A: We do not have any seamstresses that work for our shop, however we do have two women in the Burlington area that we regularly use and recommend our customers to. Their work is completely independent of our shop; however we do allow them to use our fitting rooms for their appointments. Once your dress has arrived, we will provide you with their contact information if needed.

Q: Do you have all of the dresses shown on the websites of the vendors you carry?

A: Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to carry every dress from every designer. We do try to follow our vendor’s advice and pick up the most popular and best selling styles. However, we are able to order any dress even if we don’t have it in our shop; but once you place an order for a dress, the dress is yours. In other words, we cannot order a dress for you to see and then return it.
